College Library:

College library is an information resource centre for teaching, learning and research. Being the heart of the academic centre, it is home for all information services. With an aim to provide access to information and knowledge, the library contributes and supports transformation of talent into personality. It plays a provocative role in enabling access to information resources of all kinds providing innovative and effective service to meet the changing needs of the academic community. Digital Library with 22 computers and internet is the special feature of the library. NLIST-INFLIBNET an extending access to e-resources to colleges in India subscription provides e-journals and e-books can be accessed, Our College library with a rich collection of Reading Resources competent and information rich resources for users of Jnanangotri library, the user need based resources has been obtain since 1969 The collection includes 51,780 volumes and 23 periodicals. News Papers, Journals, Magazines and other Periodicals in various languages are readily available for students use. It is indeed a book lover’s seventh heaven and the place of knowledge thirsty people.

Our library provides various other sources of information for reading in its premises as well as borrowing for home. The collection of our library includes books, magazines, periodicals, videos, audios, DVDs and various other formats. Wide range of books are stored in a library and well organized in book shelves. Our library is messenger of knowledge and education. Without library is like a body without soul. Education and library services are the two faces of a same coin and one cannot live apart from the other. The library is a key to the world of knowledge and acquisition of knowledge will help enlighten the personality of an individual at the vital, spiritual and mental levels and will inculcate social virtues and foster intellectual development to make him a worthy citizen.

'The Jnanagangotri Library' an independent library building works under the guidance and supervision of the library advisory committee, which conducts meeting twice in a year to oversee its needs and necessaries. The same report sent to the office and makes sure of its fulfillment. The committee includes respective Principal, librarian, staff members, and student’s representatives. At the beginning of the academic year library furnishes a notice to the students to inform them about the book issue date and time for first year students, after issuing books students are free to exchange books any time. The books distributed among the students with open access system. Our library automated with Information Technology we are running on E-lib Library Software. "E-Lib Library Management Software" is a multiuser (Client / Server based), Multilingual (Supports Unicode) and user friendly Library management software which helps to manage the library efficiently This software is designed and developed by consulting library professionals, "e-lib" supports MARC-21 ans AACR II cataloging, it has effective OPAC and it also supports various technologies like, Bar code. "e-lib Library Management Software is updated frequently presently 16.2 version is in use which is partially automated, the software is running since 2009 in the library.

Best Practice, Awards/ Appreciations to students

  • Best Reader Award given to one boy and girl student every year and the prize money of Rs.1000/- each and certificate is given. This initiative taken to promote reading habits among the students
  • Book Review Competition The event is to promote reading skill and competition among students for excellence. Students come to know the resources of the library and students can develop reading habit through the competition more books can be read by the students, the prize money for one boy and one girl of Rs.1000/- each and participation certificate is given to all the participants

Digital Library:

Digital library is having separate computer lab consisting of 22 Computers with broadband internet connection facility with headphone to use voice and video lecture, can be used by the students. The users are given free of cost access to INTERNET and free e-access to N-LIST and other e- resources in our Digital Library. Our Library has its own online (Local Area Network) based Institutional Repository http://192.168.1.10/xmlui/where students can access notes question papers and video lecture from library network using mobile, laptop, digital library computers freely

NLIST

Digital library networked with internet and subscribed NLIST https://nlist.inflibnet.ac.in/accessed remotely with user ID and password. Librarian is the admin of NLIST subscription, student’s details and user ID created based on the students’ information. Password sent to the students email id from NLIST itself, once ID created, students can access e-resources remotely and change the desired passwords instantly. Open access Books and journals in the digital library and various useful open access websites listed in the digital lab.
